Dewey's career in Hollywood, like that of many superstars, began with bit parts and even some stunt playing.

What looked to be Dewey's big break was the part of Baby in the RKO Pictures classic Bringing Up Baby. Shown here with costars Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, Dewey thought this role was going to rocket him to stardom.


Unfortunately, though the film is now considered a comedy classic, it tanked at the box office. Katharine Hepburn's career was nearly destroyed, and it seemed that Dewey's was going to be snuffed out just as it began.
