FREEEEDIOCY!

When Appreciation Crosses the Line into Brain Damage

Yours | Mine

A lot of people send me email with stories about concerts, declarations of their own devoted fandom, and, sometimes, media files. And, well, I say "That's great!" and then kinda throw my hands up because I don't know what I'm expected to do with the information. There wasn't really a place to put it, and usually it isn't clear if people even want that.

So, here's what I'm doing. I'm putting up the things people sent me, but, except where people made it clear they were okay with their info going up, I'm doing it anonymously. If you have Freediocy of your own to share, you can send them here. Please make it clear if it's okay to post your name (and link to your website, if you have one).

Concert reviews:

Freedy put on a great show with Jay Moran at the Cafe Momo on January 10, 2004. Except for a minor interruption, where a woman in the audience felt compelled to sing some harmonies, Freedy was in a great mood. He had just been at a friend's wedding in Rock Island, Illinois.

Freedy played Rio Grande and Don't fall in love with a lonely girl, off his new demo, and then played Bad Repuation, The lucky one, Delores, Evie's Tears, Perfect World., I'm Not Hypnotized, Western Sky, Seventies Girl and Emily, not in that order.

Freedy played plenty of covers, including, Love Grows, Close to You. Summer Breeze, Rocket Man, Band on the Run, In Your Eyes, The Joker and Somebody's Knockin at Your Door. He is putting the finishing touches on his covers' record, and it is going to be great. Freedy's high vocal range is going to sound amazing on these pop classics. I love Elton John, but Elton's voice has long been unable to hit the high notes. Freedy, on the other hand, has no trouble hitting every high note on "Rocket Man." A great word needs to be put in for Jay. Jay is the all around workhorse musician, who never has found an instrument he didn't like. His accordian work was especially pleasing to the ear. Oh, and Pie came in towards the end and made his tamborine sound like a full drum set.

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTThank you Freedy and Company for a Great Night.

The show was perfect for valentine's day. They did most of everything on the list, including band on the run, close to you, i want to make it with you, shook me all night long, cinnamon girl, smoke on the water, american girl and cruel to be kind.
Freedy and Jay sound great together, and of course Butch plays great drums... Doug Erickson is not a bass player and doesn't really know the songs... If Doug would spend a few more minutes trying to figure them out, they would sound a million times better. But I understand it's all in good fun, and they had a blast!

A bit more on the Freediotic side. That is, less performance based, more about fandom:

Jeff Clark made his own art for the bare-bones 4 demos cd. He made it in Powerpoint, but, well, I'll be dead and buried in the cold, cold ground before I'll host a Powerpoint file on this website. Just sayin'. Anyway, it's saved in two 150 dpi jpeg files here and here.

I've been a big fan of Freedy's for several years now. Last Monday (10/8[/01]) I was up in Rochester, NY visiting family and saw Freedy play at Milestones.
He was awesome and I was fortunate enough to meet and speak to him a couple times that night. He was nice enough to allow my father to take a picture of he and I standing together, and also signed a copy of This Perfect World for me. As he signed it he told me that the people on the cover were his grandparents, which I wasn't aware of. It was a great experience and one I'll never forget.

Holy crap...It's finally happened. After an agonizing search, I have found another young (I guess you're young, you look it in the picture) lady (again, I'm making an assumption here) who is as obsessed with Freedy as I am. In fact, I've actually never met anyone, let alone young and female, who is at all interested. I was so happy to find your site you would not believe. Not in your wildest dreams...Oh my god oh my god, I'm so happy that there's another Freedy site besides [the official one]. Thanks so much for all the info and pictures. Why is Freedy so mysterious? Your site has more "personal" info on him than I've seen on any other site and it's like, 3 sentences.
Oh well.

oh, ps, I have an incontinent cat too.

[At end of email on another topic]

P.S. Saw Freedy at a show last week and actually met him but I'm still too ashamed of my gushing to reveal the details.

Last weekend he performed in Gigant, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, and it's where I live.
I never heard of Freedy before. but a friend of mine did and convinced me to come over and watch his performance. I was really taken by freedy's songs and appearance, 1st thing I did monday was rush out and get a cd from him!
What I wanted to tell you though, I am a singer/songwriter as well, and I have my own studio where I produce my own work and that of other artists.
Apparently, my friend went to chat up with Freedy, and 30 minutes after the show he came to me with Freedy on his side, demanding that I should play some of my works to Freedy!
Well, this place called Gigant, I come there a lot, and they've got this grand piano over that in the theatre hall which I can always use, so we went to there and I sat down at the piano. Just started playing away, mostly improvising, and Freedy was really struck by my performance. Actually I was trembling a bit, 'cuz I just saw his show and I couldn't see me doing a one man sing/songwriter thing on stage for almost two hours, non stop!
So, 10 minutes later he demanded he'd get his guitar and we have played for over an hour together. playing some existing songs, also songs of his, but also improvising away.
It was really great, and I was really on one level with him, we really took a liking of each other. I did some more research the next day, and I found out by all the sites I stumbled across about him, that I was actually quite lucky to have this opportunity to play with him.

The next time you get to see Freedy, mention to him that Birmingham, Al is being deprived of his presence! I know it's the "Heart Of Dixie" but some of us down here can be pretty cool:)

do you have any idea how I might get the chords to "He Wasn't Murdered" or any other chords from that disc? I would certainly appreciate it. I had Mr. J live in studio several years ago when I produced a music show on Fox in Portland. By the way, Dewey (if that's his real name) looks suspiciously like my Skippy. Stop stalking my cat.

Subject: very important Freedy question

Ok, maybe you can help. I have searched high and low all over the net and cannot find Freedy's birthday. I am hoping you will know it...

My only real question is. . .Is Evie a real person?? Do you know the answer?
