More Than You Wanted to Know about Adair

Born: January, 1978 in Wyckoff, New Jersey. Say what you will, I grew up in a beautiful place where everybody could say "Jersey" and not "Joisey". I am now living in Brooklyn.

Family: Have one! Like 'em, too. Mom, Dad, 1 brother, 2 sisters, all of them older than myself; one of them, Jonna, even went to school with me, graduating in '99. And, of course, the family home has 3 cats currently tormenting our otherwise empty-nest parents: Jessie, Emmett, and the prophetically-named Dewey.

Etc.: Graduated from Princeton University in June of 2000. Got my degree in Comparative Literature, which means I have license to wear black turtlenecks and write opaque verse about my feelings of anomie. These are not things that I do, but I can. Actually, it means I can read within and across multiple literary traditions and write well.

Music: Anything that doesn't suck. Anyone that has the misfortune of rooming near me could tell you that I like Rolling Stones and Motown, but I'm also into Freedy Johnston (a bit obsessively, I dare say), Sleater-Kinney (the best band in the world), Hole, Pavement, and (I can admit it without any shame!) Prince. Another fact worth mentioning: Jewel SUCKS! Possibly more than Mariah Carey, but the jury's still out. Note to the people being referred by that chartreuse blog: I don't give a flying fuck about "authenticity" or lack thereof. Jewel sucks because her lyrics are inane and she sings in the goddamn baby voice. I do not care about her OR Tracy Chapman's life story, and really, as far as respecting/denigrating musicianship goes, neither should anyone else, chartreuse blogger included. Authenticity is a boondoggle.

Still want to know more? Well, I can refer you to a little story which illustrates my personality pretty well. Or, if you're looking for a snapshot of life with a charmer like myself, this could be right up your alley. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, one last thing: I know this background is ugly, and that its ugly colors force still uglier choices of text color. I don't care. It combines school pride and my cat. So, thppppppt.
